The most beautiful in the world with character...
On the 4th of August, it has been exactly 4 years since the first edition of Miss Poland in a wheelchair. Our history started in 2013 and still continues. At that time we didn't even imagine that a few years later the Only One Foundation will be an organiser of the Miss Wheelchair World - a social event on a global scale.
Our beginnings...
The Only One Foundation was brought to life by two moms in wheelchairs, who wanted to change the image of people with disabilities, especially women. That's why they came up with the idea of a beauty pageant. Elections for the most beautiful polish girl in a wheelchair took place on 4th August 2013 in the small town of Ciechocinek. Our event received a great deal of concrete attention even though it was a completely new concept in Poland. Over 70 beautiful women reported to the contest but only 10 of them could reach the next phase and take part in the final gala, which has gathered crowds of spectators.
Contestants showed that beauty has no limits...
Each one of them was different and unique but they were all united by common cause - to show that wheelchair is not a determinant of femininity. Each time they came on stage with big smiles on their faces winning audiences' hearts. It was a tough choice, because every single one them deserved the title, but someone had to win.
Stimulus for action...
Po tych wyborach Fundacja Jedyna Taka zorganizowała jeszcze 3 kolejne edycje konkursu Miss Polski na Wózku, które odbyły się już w Warszawie. Wiedza i doświadczenie zdobyte w ciągu tych kilku lat zmotywowały Fundację do zrobienia kolejnego kroku i zorganizowania konkursu, w którym będą mogły wziąć udział kobiety z całego świata. Miss Wheelchair World bo o tym konkursie mowa, to pierwsze takie wydarzenie na świecie, o którym więcej przeczytacie na stronie https://misswheelchairworld.org/.
This project is not an ordinary beauty pageant. It's an international manifest of women's rights - their independence, self - confidence and ability to self-realization - regardless of the place of work, ability to walk or social status. We are amazed when we read applications of girls who have already expressed an intention to participate in Miss Wheelchair World - they are not only beautiful but also extraordinary. They want to change the world and they have the courage to do it. Each one of them has its own unique history. We will soon learn about them.
The recruitment proceedings are still underway until the 20th of August. The Final Gala will be held on the 7th of October in Ursynów Arena in Warsaw. The co-organiser of the event is the city government of Warsaw.
